Verge is a pen-and-paper role playing game system that is currently in development by Spike Pit Productions. Though still incomplete at present, the game is very playable and is available for early access play. Verge is designed to offer an alternative to the mainstream RPG systems with a focus on offering a more realistic and customisable experience.
MAIN FEATURES
The mechanics of Verge are simple and easy to learn; a short read of The Basics in the official Rule Book is all that is required to begin playing. Greater complexity can be found in the vast array of customisable options for character creation.
Whilst limited to the realm of fantasy, the system is entirely setting agnostic and does not require any pre-existing lore or setting knowledge; Verge is intended to fit any fantasy setting you desire or create.
Classless character creation allows for total customisation and control of your character; you can mix and match features from over a dozen races with hundreds of powers, spells, potions and backgrounds to create a truly unique character.
The game is designed with realism in mind, aiming to strike a sensible balance between rules/mechanics and reality. Even the most powerful or skilled character can be killed by a lucky strike, keeping players always on the verge of life and death.

The official Verge rulebook, along with a number of supplemental documents, are now freely available in the Downloads section below.

The system is currently fully playable but is subject to frequent balance and design changes. As these changes are implemented, the rulebook will be updated here as well. In the future, there will be a change-log provided with these updates to help players track major changes.
